The Vizio E480i-B2 -- Smaller Price Tag with Great Quality

If your new TV budget isn’t quite as large as you hoped, 2014 still offered some great TVs for less than $500, including the Vizio E480i-B2. This 48-inch TV and its corresponding TV remote control offer plenty of bang for the buck, even with its lower price tag. No, you won’t find all of the features of the pricier televisions, but you will find a great picture display and plenty of the most essential features to make this TV fit your needs.

  • This is an LED television that features local dimming. The improved LED technology allows this TV to give you a vibrant picture with distinct blacks, whites, and colors, and clear definition. Yet, you don’t have to pay an outrageous price to enjoy picture quality that rivals many higher-priced models.

  • While this television doesn’t boast the prettiest design, its remote features a useful layout and smaller design, making it easier to grip.

  • This TV also has some of the most essential features, including HDMI and USB ports, as well as a good assortment of applications, such as Hulu Plus, YouTube, EBay, and Twitter.

  • Advanced picture settings allow you the freedom to adjust the already-great display even further, creating a magnificent picture that will give you viewing pleasure for years.

With the great picture and the lower price tag, this Vizio television is a must-have for anyone looking for an affordable TV without having to sacrifice quality.

The LG 55EA9800 -- Amazing TV with Reduced Price

It’s the end of the year, so it’s time to take a look at the best TVs that 2014 brought us. Reviewed.com had no trouble voting the LG 55EA9800 as the best TV for the year. Although it was released in 2013, it held its own throughout the year, and a significant decrease in price combined with stellar features, a useful TV remote, and beautiful display earned this LG television the top spot. Here is what you can expect from this fantastic TV:

  • The price ranges from $2700 to $3300, which may seem like a lot of money to drop on a 55-inch TV. However, when you consider that the price has come down about $8,000 from its release, then you realize you are getting a great value.

  • This is a curved-screen OLED TV, providing you with one of the best picture displays you can find. The OLED technology provides true blacks, the brightest whites, and the most vivid colors. This is a display picture that will truly have you feeling as if you can reach out and touch whatever is on the screen -- the detail and coloring are that good!

  • This is an extremely thin television. It is only about as wide at the edge as four credit cards stacked on top of each other! The stand is clear, so that when you turn off the lights to watch a movie, all you see is the bright, vivid picture.

  • You can expect all of the smart TV features, including 3-D technology, streaming content, and different applications.

There really isn’t anything bad to say about this LG television. It outperformed all other comparable TVs. So, if you are willing to spend a nice chunk of change on a TV, this is the one you should lean toward.

The Sony XBR-65X950B

Sony is known for fine things, and this HDTV is one of the brand's finest. Because this 4K TV is recently released, it retails for $7,000. That is a lot of dough to just hand over, but if you want a top of the line TV and the latest technology, this is what you have to be willing to pay. This TV features full array LED backlighting and multi-zone local dimming, which gives it the deepest possible black levels for a non-plasma HDTV. Along with the deep black levels, the TV features excellent contrast and screen uniformity.

This XBR-line TV is massive; so much so, that you need a very large stand for it. Instead of a stand, like smaller HDTVs, it comes with triangular legs that go on the very ends of the bezel. Even with the funky legs, it looks great perched on the stand. The bezel is thicker than other models, but this set is all screen, regardless of the bezel. The included high quality remote gives the user full access to all the features this TV has to offer.

Pros:

  • Excellent contrast

  • Deep black levels

  • 4K upscaling

  • Fully featured Smart TV suite

Cons:

  • Webcam does not function well

  • Extremely large and cumbersome

  • Color requires initial adjustment

Bottom line:

If you have the money, this is an excellent TV set. You get a full set of features and 4K resolution for about the average price for this size of TV.

Introducing the JVC DM85UXR

JVC's new offering for 2015 is the DM85UXR. This HDTV is massive, at 85 inches, and it has an equally massive price tag at an estimated $7999.00. There's no word of what its TV remote control is like, yet, but it's likely pretty decent, considering the price tag alone of this TV. This TV offers 4K resolution and more dimming zones than its previous models. The dimming zones total 64, with the 65-inch option having a mere 32. In theory, this means this JVC model should offer much more contrast.

Aside from the 4K resolution, this TV offers a lot of extras. JVC claims that it offers a topped-out 240HZ refresh rate, all thanks to their CrystalMotion Pro motion compensation engine. In addition to the excellent refresh rate, JVC includes a 4K upscaling engine with this build. As far as other features go, the DM85UXR comes with 5 HDMI ports. Four of the ports are compatible with the next advance in HDMI technology, HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. This means this HDTV will work with the new 4K Blu-rays and players that should eventually enter the market in the coming years.

Packaged with the DM85UXR is the Roku Streaming Stick, which offers 1,500 plus channels. The other two extras are a QWERTY remote and Wi-Fi, both of which are generally common in higher-end TVs. The available images of this TV show it with a barely-there bezel and a two-piece chrome stand. Once the TV is released, we'll be able to provide more details on whether or not you should take the plunge.

4K TV Spotlight: Panasonic AX802

The Panasonic AX802 is a 4K TV that offers impressive features and a handy touchpad Bluetooth TV remote control. You've probably seen how little of a difference the 4K resolution makes on most TVs; however, this is not the case here. The 50 inch model offers up an impressive picture with deep blacks and a very wide color range. It even offers an info bar that stays on standby until someone enters the room and triggers its sensor. It should be noted that this TV is very heavy.

The TV sits atop a counterweight stand that is slightly behind the massive screen. It makes the screen appear to float above the stand, which is a nice touch. The metallic edge on the frame is also a nice element to the design of this attractive TV. The Smart TV suite is one of the best available and offers many streaming services. Unfortunately, the Netflix 4K service is not yet compatible with this TV. The remote is a small touchpad, which users will either love or hate.

Pros:

  • Excellent Smart TV suite

  • Great picture quality

  • Good looking design

  • Deep black levels

  • Excellent color range

Cons:

  • Netflix 4K is not compatible

  • Some users found remote awkward

  • Edge lighting is uneven

Bottom Line:

This TV is an excellent example of a 4K set that delivers. This is one of the better Panasonic TVs they have produced since they stopped making plasma TVs. It is an upgrade, and a much better 4K TV overall, compared to the previous year's WT600 model.

4K TV Spotlight: The Toshiba L9363

The Toshiba L9363 is a good budget 4K TV, but the TV remote is a real let down. The TV does offer a bright picture with good color performance. It does have some issues with motion blur and sluggish menus. The TV costs less than $5,000, which is attractive, since many 4K TVs are going for prices way above what the average person would pay for them. In fact, some TVs were selling for as much as $40,000. So, if you can deal with a less than perfect picture, and you have to have a 4K TV, this might be the one for you.

The design of the Smart TV menu leaves a lot to be desired, but it is a good start for Toshiba. Unfortunately, the overall design of this TV is plastic and cheap. It does not look or feel like a TV that costs as much as it does. However, the thin bezel along the front of the screen is a nice touch. The remote looks and feels cheap, too. It is sluggish and feels spongy when you press down the keys.

Pros:

  • Low price

  • Good bright display

  • Color performance is good

Cons:

  • 4K resolution does not help picture quality

  • Poor 3D support

  • Low black levels

  • Sluggish menus and not so good Smart TV suite

Bottom Line:

The picture performance of this TV is not so good considering the price tag. It is not a good value compared to some of the 1080p TVs available on the market.

The Sony Bravia KD65X9005B Reviewed

The Sony Bravia KD65X9005B is bulky, but offers a good picture. Instead of just one TV remote, it comes with two. The TV does have top of the line picture quality, but the overall design is questionable. It comes with a Smart TV suite, but it lacks a lot of apps. Aside from the missing apps, the Smart TV menu offers an easy to use interface. It also has 3D, but the performance of this system is iffy at best. It does offer 4K or UltraHD video and has very good sound quality, but, for this, Sony sacrificed design.

Let's face it: this TV has some design flaws. Most people either love it or hate it. The TV is extremely wide for a 65-inch model. So wide, in fact, that it will not fit on most stands suited for 65-inch TVs. However, it does offer additional slots to place the stand to accommodate it. It has several speakers on the sides, which have shiny black housing that is very distracting. The wedge design makes the TV look odd and, again, some people will either love it or hate it. The remotes are excellent, and they are almost as good as Samsung's similar models. The TV offers a basic wand remote and a smart clicker that has a touchpad and motion control.

Pros:

  • Excellent picture quality

  • Deep black levels

  • Great sound quality due to massive speakers

  • Excellent remotes

Cons:

  • Design is too bulky

  • Smart TV system lacks apps

  • 3D performance could be much better

Bottom Line:

This is a decent TV, but some of its features could stand to be better. For the money, you're better off with a HDTV that offers better features and a less-bulky design.

The High-End Samsung UNHU8550 Series

As with only high-end Samsung TVs, the UNHU8550 series comes with two remotes for better viewing pleasure. This 4K TV model is of the high-end price range, from $6,000 to $9,000. For the price, this HDTV has an excellent picture. Surprisingly, the price for this TV is much less than some other brands' offerings on the 4K market. It has a flat screen, versus the strange, curved screens that several other brands have introduced. This Samsung TV also features the OneConnect upgrade path, which means that it is somewhat future-proof.

The HU8550 is very minimalistic in nature. It has a low-profile stand that makes it look like it is hovering over the entertainment console. The base is brushed metal, and the TV features a barely-there thin black bezel. With the bezel being so thin, the TV appears to be all screen, which is a very good feature. It comes with Samsung's standard wand-style remote, but it also includes the updated motion control pod remote. This little clicker fits in the palm of the hand and allows fluid use of the motion control.

Pros:

  • Excellent picture quality

  • Deep black levels

  • Accurate color

  • Offers the best connectivity yet for 2014 TVs

  • Excellent remote

  • Many extras, including Smart TV

Cons:

  • Very expensive TV

  • Advantages of 4K resolution is unknown

Bottom Line:

If you have to have a 4K TV and cannot wait until next year, this is a solid model, and it offers a lower price than some. It has a great picture quality, but, with little 4K content on the market, whether or not it is worth the money is questionable.

The Samsung F5500 Series

Those who appreciate a good clicker will love the TV remote that comes with this Samsung plasma. The best quality of this HDTV involves the features that come with it. It offers a Smart TV suite, Web browser, upgraded remote, and more to consumers. However, for the $2,800 MSRP, you could get a lot more TV. It does offer active 3D, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. Another excellent feature of this TV is that it is energy efficient.

The bezel of this plasma set is black with a clear plastic trim around the edges. The stand is something to see. It has a four-pronged appearance and looks rather cheap. You can grab the feet and turn them in your hands. This seems like it would pose a problem, but gravity holds it down on the stand quite well. However, the TV does swivel. The standard remote is the Smart Touch Remote Control. It features a touchpad that is responsive. It also offers a microphone, so you can do a voice search through the menu.

Pros:

  • Excellent features for the price

  • Excellent performance

  • Very good black levels

  • Smart TV

  • Web browser

  • Active 3D

  • Energy efficient

Cons:

  • Horrible bright room picture

  • Inaccurate color

  • Poor sound

Bottom Line:

This is a decent plasma TV, but it has a lot of issues. The horrible bright room performance is enough for many consumers to not use the TV. Since most people would rather not watch TV in the dark, this TV is not a good value with the features.

The Panasonic TC-L65WT600: Ultra HDTV

This ultra HDTV comes with 4K resolution, two remotes (a standard remote and a magic remote with touch control and voice control), and a large price tag of $5,000. This is a lot of money to spend on just one TV. It is one of the few 4K TVs that is compliant with the new HDMI 2.0. The input it accepts is 60 frames a second, which is super-fast. Its picture quality is pretty decent, as well as other attributes of the picture and color. The TV does come with many extras, too.

The TV's design is a mishmash of glass on metal. The sides of the TV are brushed silver and plastic, which is supposed to mimic glass. The stand is a barely-there silver band that looks like it can barely hold the weight of the TV. However, it does so gracefully, but still leaves more to be desired -- such as the ability to swivel. The remotes that come with this TV are similar to others that come in only high-end designs. One is a touchpad that has Bluetooth and a microphone for voice searches. The second remote is a standard remote with backlighting and all the buttons you could ever ask for.

Pros:

  • HDMI 2.0 compliant

  • Good picture quality

  • Accurate color and deep black levels

  • Great bright room image

  • Interesting design and stand

  • Excellent remotes

  • 3D and 3D glasses (2 pairs)

  • Voice interaction and camera

  • Smart TV suite

Cons:

  • Poor value for price

  • Local dimming causes washout

Bottom Line:

This is a great TV, but, for the price, it is not worth it. For $5,000, you can find a much better TV at 1080p resolution that works much better and which has a great picture.

For more great information about this TV and other similar models, contact us at Replacement Remotes.

The LG LA6200 Series: Budget Large HDTV with Performance Problems

Armed with the standard LG TV remote control, the LA6200 series is a large, budget-friendly TV with a few performance issues. The picture quality is the not greatest, and it makes this TV not such a great value, especially with its $1,000 price tag. The smart TV suite is one of the best qualities of this HDTV. Consumers can customize it, which is something that all TVs do not offer.

Aside of the picture issues, this TV looks smart and sophisticated. It comes with a thin, dark bezel and has a wide profile due to its direct-lit LED screen. The stand makes the TV look as if it is floating, and it swivels -- an extra feature that many HDTVs do not offer. Many consumers prefer the motion control remote that LG offers, but this TV does not come with it. Instead, it comes with the standard LG remote, which is a good remote, but it has few features. Though the remote works well, it does not work well with the Smart TV menu, which takes many clicks to get to many apps and features.

Pros:

  • Great looking design

  • Smart TV suite

  • Accurate color

  • 3D compatible with 4 pairs of glasses

Cons:

  • Poor picture quality

  • Not as good video processing

  • Poor 3D image

  • Smart interface not easily navigable

  • Poor bright-room image

Bottom Line:

This HDTV is somewhat of a budget model, compared to many of the big-ticket TVs that are out in the market. Its features are okay, but there are many other TVs that are a much better value. Much of the competition has a better picture and better features for around the same price or less.

The Vizio P2ui-B Series: A Budget 4K HDTV

The Vizio P2ui-B series is one of the few budget 4K resolution TVs available, and it shows in some ways, such as the lackluster TV remote and design. However, the picture quality looks far from cheap. For gamers, it offers very low input lag, even compared to plasma screens. Its picture quality is also pretty good for a $2,000 4K TV. The included features are also decent, which include Smart TV suite, HDMI inputs, 4K streaming capabilities, and the usual connections (USB, Component, and Composite).

The TV offers a minimalistic design that is definitely not top of the line, but it also does not look as cheap as a $200 budget TV. This series is much thicker than many other HDTVs, due to the direct backlighting, which is a drawback to its design. The outside bezel is also thicker, and it is a dark, featureless gray. The remote that comes with this HDTV is mostly featureless. It does not offer backlighting, the keys are close together, and the keys around the cursor make using it difficult. It does offer a QWERTY keyboard that works quite well, which makes navigating the smart TV suite easy.

Pros:

  • 4K resolution at a cheap price

  • Deep black levels and good contrast

  • Color accuracy is good and video processing is okay

  • Very low input lag

  • Excellent features

Cons:

  • Video processing makes picture worse at times

  • Picture too sharp

  • Screen artifacts

Bottom Line:

This 4K TV is a good one, especially for those who are budget conscious. Many of the video processing issues will hopefully be addressed in a future software update.

Vizio and Their Excellent TVs: The M1d-A2R

The Vizio M1d-A2R and the TV remote for it seem to have little in common, which is odd for this TV brand. The TV itself is an exceptional value for just under $2,000 for a 55-inch screen. The brand was once considered a budget one, in line with TCL and other similar brands. This first TV in the M series is one of the models that are making strides towards a more high-end style. For the price, this Vizio HDTV offers an excellent picture and a nice set of features.

Prior to this model, most Vizio TVs looked cheap. This one does not at all. It has a barely-there bezel that resembles the bezel of a smartphone. The ends are brushed aluminum, rivaling many of LG's HDTV designs. Even the Vizio logo is subtle at the bottom right corner of the TV. Its stand is simple, yet effective, and leaves the TV looking similar to a computer monitor. However, the remote that comes with the M1d-A2R is less than stunning. It looks promising, with it being a good size and having all the buttons in the right places, but its performance underwhelms. It has backlighting, but no dedicated button, so you have to press blindly for it to work. It is also sluggish, and it freezes.

Pros:

  • Great value

  • Excellent picture quality

  • Good shadow detail

  • Deep black levels

  • Great processing

  • Smart TV suite

  • Nice design

Cons:

  • Some apps are sluggish

  • Remote is not great

  • Has a slight red push

  • Screen is very reflective

Bottom Line:

This is a great TV to own. The design and the features included, with the generally low price tag, are a win.

A Review of the TCL LE58FHDE3010

With the TCL LE58FHD, there is no need to spend time looking up remote control codes. The remote that comes with this budget TV might look cheap, but it fits well in the hand and works quite well. The 58" TV works well, too, especially for a very low budget model. This TCL retails for just over $700, which is a bargain price for such a large screen. However, you do miss out on some features, and the picture can be what you expect for the low price and off-label brand. Regardless of the potential picture issues, if you need a big TV for a cheap price, this set is well worth it.

The design of this TV looks very similar to the E-Series from Vizio. It has a very thin bezel, of less than an inch, making it look much slimmer than models from previous years. It is a lot thicker than most other similar TVs, because it lacks the LED edge lighting, instead having a full backlit panel. The stand is black, like the rest of the TV -- but it is glass-topped, which makes it almost look better than many high-end models. The remote isn't too shabby, either, with a shiny finish and few buttons. It's not crowded, and it feels good in the hand.

Pros:

  • Very cheap for a 58" TV

  • Black levels are okay

  • Uniform picture

  • Picture packs somewhat of a punch

  • Sound quality is decent for a flat screen

  • Big TV

  • Looks nice

  • Has a nice remote

Cons:

  • Picture lacks detail

  • Inaccurate color

  • Input lag

  • No features

  • Bad video processing

Bottom line:

If you need a decent TV for little money, this TV is it. However, it doesn't have many features, and playing anything other than movies on it will not have a great picture.

A Review of the Panasonic TC-LE60 Series LCD HDTV

Over the past couple of years, Panasonic has been making strides with their HDTVs and included remotes. The TC-LE60 series is an example of a good value mid-range LED LCD HDTV with a cost of about $2,500 for a 60-inch model. It is one of the better LCD models to come from the company so well-known for plasma TVs. It offers a pretty decent picture at an aggressive price with a good set of features.

The design of this HDTV is very similar to that of other Panasonic TVs. It comes with a very thin black bezel with a glossy finish. Its stand is pretty generic, and it does not include the ability to swivel. However, the HDTV is still attractive. It will also easily fit in with most types of decor. It has a very thin profile for an HDTV. The remote is standard for Panasonic. The layout is very logical, but some of the buttons are either too big or too small, making it easy to hit the wrong buttons. Another downside is the lack of any backlighting in the remote.

Pros:

  • Affordable price

  • Very deep black levels for a LED LCD HDTV

  • Excellent bright room performance

  • Good video processing

  • True 120Hz processing

  • Minimalist styling

  • Excellent Smart TV content

Cons:

  • Very poor sound quality

  • Bad angle viewing

  • Poor picture uniformity

Bottom Line:

For a mid-range LED LCD HDTV, Panasonic offers a good price for this model when compared to the features and decent picture quality. This HDTV offers one of the best values available at this price point for LED LCD model.

A Review of the LG LA6200 Series

For an expensive HDTV, the LG LA6200 Series disappoints with a poor picture and standard TV remote compared to the remotes shipped with their nicer TVs. Even though it has an almost $2,000 price tag, this LCD HDTV is considered a mid-range model. It offers many good features, but features alone do not make a TV worth buying, unless it can make you coffee or something cool like that.

This LG HDTV looks like an excellent piece of electronic luxury when it is turned off. Is has a modern style with a thin, aggressive silver bezel. The stand also has the same silver brushed finish, which looks so very sleek. The remote is standard, but, for $80 more, you could upgrade to a so-called smart remote. So, looks-wise, LG has it covered with the luxurious look of this HDTV. However, when it is turned on the problems start. It has a picture quality that leaves much to be desired.

Pros:

  • Beautiful exterior

  • Swivel stand

  • Excellent Smart TV suite

  • Accurate color

  • 3D ready with 4 sets of glasses

  • Adjustable picture settings

Cons:

  • Poor value for the money

  • Subpar picture quality

  • Black levels too light

  • Bad video processing

  • Poor 3D image

Bottom line:

If you want a beautiful HDTV for looks, this is it. However, if you want a TV that is a good value and that works well, look elsewhere. The picture quality is very subpar compared to the price. The picture quality lacks contrast and definition, which is not a good thing when you're paying almost $2,000 for a TV.

A Review of the Midrange Samsung UNF6400 Series

The Samsung UNF6400 series LED LCD TV is a step up from the UNF6300 series. It offers very similar features and picture quality. However, a huge difference from the two is the TV remote control. For almost $1,000 more, at $3,299, you get Samsung's Smart Touch Remote Control. This handy little clicker has a touch pad and voice search. It does have very few buttons, which means that you have to use an on-screen remote for many features. This makes it difficult to do simple things such as play, pause, or fast forward through Netflix.

The picture quality of this HDTV is almost the same as the 6300, but it offers more features. It also has the same design as the previous model. This might lead you to wonder why a new remote costs $1,000, but you really do get some extra features, such as Micro Dimming and active 3D technology. It comes with three sets of 3D glasses, and the technology is compatible with many 3rd-party brands. The Smart TV suite is one of the best features of the HDTV, which looks nice and is easy to navigate.

Pros:

  • Good mix of value and features

  • Accurate color

  • Good video processing

  • Great sound quality

  • Touch pad remote works well

  • Excellent Smart TV suite

  • Active 3D technology and 3 sets of glasses

Cons:

  • Black levels too light

  • Problems with color desaturation

  • Color uniformity issues

  • Cheap stand

Bottom Line:

This LED LCD TV offers a decent value, but the UNF6300 offers the better value at almost $1,000 less. Some of the new features of this HDTV make the picture quality worse, which is not a good thing.

About the Samsung UNF6300 Series

The Samsung UNF6300 series is another mid-range set that offers a decent mixture of features and solid picture quality, but lacks an advanced TV remote. Overall, this LED LCD TV has much to offer with a price that is slightly over $2,000 for a 55-inch model. The series ranges from 32 inches, all the way to 60 inches. Aside from great TVs such as the Panasonic E60 or Vizio M series, this TV offers almost as good of a value, which is a lot to say for a non-plasma set.

This LED LCD TV offers a unique look that makes it look pricier than it is. It has a thin, black bezel with transparent edging. The edges of the bezel are rounded, leaving a sleek outline of the HDTV. It has a spider stand, dressed in a light gray color. The stand looks nice, but feels cheap-- to the extent that you might feel safer mounting the TV to the wall. The very standard remote is cluttered with many buttons. However, it does offer easy access to many features, including cable box control and Smart TV features.

Pros:

  • Smart TV suite

  • Built-in Wi-Fi

  • 120 Hz refresh rate

  • Great picture quality

  • Accurate color

  • Excellent quality video processing

  • IR blaster remote

  • Cable box control

  • Modern design

  • Good sound quality

Cons:

  • Light black levels

  • Flimsy stand

  • Dark areas look bluish

Bottom Line:

This LED LCD TV presents a great value for the price. Its picture quality is better than many other similar and higher priced HDTVs.

About LG PH6700 Series

LG's PH6700 series is a high-tech midrange plasma HDTV with a rather strange TV remote control. Overall, the HDTV offers a decent value. It has a large screen for the price and some extra features that make the $1,000 price worth it. However, for a plasma HDTV, the picture quality is not on par with other similar TVs. This can present a problem, but, for the low price, it is not a huge issue. Still, the large feature set does make up for this.

The TV features a very thin bezel and a sunken-in appearance, like that of a picture frame. The finish is a black brushed plastic, but it looks cheap versus premium, like their other TVs. The stand is also not much to look at, but the fact that it swivels makes up for this. However, the remote is where the most changes were made. It is a small wand, but it really looks like a large lollipop. It is a "smart" remote, which means that it has pointing and scrolling capabilities, along with an on-screen remote. This may or may not irritate users as they try to access the menu, which requires the on-screen remote.

Pros:

  • Smart TV suite

  • Active 3D technology

  • Built-in Wi-Fi

  • De-judder processing

  • Great shadow detail

  • Great color performance

  • Excellent audio

  • Motion remote is fun to use

  • Cable box control

  • Voice control remote

  • Excellent picture settings

Cons:

  • Poor black levels

  • Poor bright room performance

  • No 3D glasses

Bottom line:

This is an excellent larger-screen TV. If you need a mid-range HDTV, this is a good option as long as you don't plan to use it in a bright room or one where the sun shines in at all times.

The Small, but Decent Sony KDL-400A

The Sony KDL-400A is a small 32-inch TV with an equally compact TV remote. The TV is very affordable, at under $300, compared to most of what Sony offers. Though it's not a huge TV, it is perfect for a small game room or for a child's bedroom. It offers a decent picture quality for a low-priced TV, although it is not the best out there. However, it has the best sound compared to TVs of a similar price range. It has an LED LCD screen, but it lacks features, such as Smart TV.

This KDL might cost little, but the set itself does not look cheap. Its base and bezel have a mirror-like finish. The bezel is very thin, similar to many of the higher end HDTVs. The compact remote doesn’t have too many buttons, and the buttons it does have are all highly usable. It even has a dedicated set of buttons for the built-in media player.

Pros:

  • Solid black levels

  • Low price, decent value

  • Good color saturation

  • Excellent sound quality

  • Sleek and modern design

  • Decent remote

  • Great shadow detail

  • Includes a USB port

Cons:

  • No Smart TV features

  • TV menu does not look good

  • No 3D technology

  • No de-judder processing

  • 120Hz processing looks more like 60Hz

Bottom Line:

This small TV is excellent for a spare room or for a child’s room. It is not a TV to use for playing video games, but those who just want an extra TV for watching movies will enjoy it. It is not the best value out there, but it is one of the best TVs for under $300 that you will find in this size.

The Samsung UNH6400: Good TV with a Big Price

The Samsung UNH6400 is an HDTV that is almost worth buying for the TV remote. This TV is a mid-range model, with many of the bells and whistles you can expect from the $1,000+ price tag. Its Smart TV suite has many more apps than many of the competitors. The picture quality is excellent for the price, but the sound quality does not measure up. However, it does have active 3D technology and comes with 2 sets of 3D glasses.

The bezel on this TV is so thin that it seems to provide the whole-picture look. The bezel is all black, and there is no chrome in sight. However, the stand is chrome, but it does let the TV itself swivel. The model is on the thicker side, at 2.5 to 2.8 inches. The included remote is the Smart Touch Remote. It is a small motion remote that is small enough to feel good in the palm of the hand. Navigation is fluid and easy, which is better than most remotes. The only downside is that many functions require the use of an on-screen remote.

Pros:

  • Excellent minimalistic design

  • Awesome remote control

  • Smart TV suite that offers a lot

  • Accurate color

  • Good bright room image

  • Active 3D technology and 2 pairs of glasses

  • Great image processing

Cons:

  • For the price, picture quality could be better

  • Bad sound quality

  • Black levels too light

  • Smart TV suite offers almost too many apps

For a decent quality TV, the price tag is almost worth it. The remote is wonderful, it has a wide range of features, and the design is very sleek.

The Sharp LC-UQ17U: Are the Extra Features Worth It?

The Sharp LC-UQ17U is an advanced TV with many features and an almost retro TV remote control. The TV itself has 1080p resolution, but its extra features are supposed to make the picture look closer to 4K quality. It has a four-color screen and some extra technology that should make the picture look better, but this is hardly the truth.

The top and bottom bezel of this TV are silver, while the sides are black, which looks slick. However, the stand looks strange compared to the rest of the TV design. The TV does wall mount, which is an option to consider, as it looks better that way. The remote design is the same one Sharp has used for the previous four years. It is a long remote that is comfortable and has just the right amount of buttons, without being overwhelming.

Pros:

  • Good picture quality

  • Deep black levels

  • Excellent shadow detail

  • Looks good when wall mounted

  • Good remote design, although it’s old

  • Menu system makes sense

  • Active 3D and comes with glasses

  • Bluetooth connectivity

Cons:

  • Very high price tag for native 1080p resolution

  • Revelation engine adds artifacts

  • Color artifacts

  • Stand looks awkward

  • Smart TV interface is sluggish

  • Picture not so nice compared to the price

The bottom line is that the price is not worth it for the picture quality or the lack of 4K resolution. The TV performs just as well as TVs that are half the price with similar features. This means that instead of spending $2,000, you can spend under $1,000 for the same, if not better, features.

The Samsung UNHU9000 Series

As one of the cheaper 4K TVs, the UNHU9000 series offers a good picture quality, curved screen, and two different remotes. Its price ranges from $3,500 to $4,500, which is low compared to other brands of 4K TVs that go for as much as $40,000. It offers great picture quality for the price, even though most forms of 4K content are not available yet.

The screen is curved, but, in this TV, it is more of a gimmick than anything. While watching TV, you’re not likely to notice the curve, much, but otherwise it is very obvious. Its overall design includes a low-profile base, and it is a thin TV, but not as thin as LG’s newest TV for 2014. It comes with a standard remote, which is the same as most other Samsung remotes. However, the smaller, pod-shaped clicker remote bests even some of the top luxury TV remotes.

Pros:

  • Excellent picture quality

  • Deep black levels

  • Good bright-room picture

  • Excellent feature selection

  • Attractive overall design

  • Excellent remotes, especially the small clicker

  • Active 3D technology

  • Local dimming

  • Pop up camera

  • Multi-screen

  • 4 HDMI and 3 USB ports

Cons:

  • Expensive

  • Curve does not add to picture quality

  • Curve distorts some of the picture

  • Little-to-no 4K content

  • 3D glasses seem cheap

The bottom line is that this is a good TV, if you have to have the 4K resolution. However, the curved screen adds a lot to the price, and right now it does not seem worth it. It does nothing for the overall picture quality.

Best Picture: The LG EC9300 Series

The LG EC9300 Series offers one of the best HDTV pictures for an affordable price. It comes with a modified TV remote that owes its design to the motion clickers other luxury TVs offer. It’s one of the thinnest TVs, and ranges in price from $3,000 to $3,500, with models starting with the 55-inch size. The series blew the picture of plasma TVs out of the water, as well as any other LED/LCD screens.

What many reviewers did not like was the curved screen. However, the TV itself is razor thin. Most of the TV measures just a quarter inch thick, but the center of the back bulges out to 1 1/2 inches thick, to house the speakers and other hardware. The curve itself is not drastic, but it is obvious, especially when viewed from an angle. The stand is curved, too, and adds to the beauty of the design. The remote is small and fits well in the hand. It has a few main buttons and a scroll wheel that works quite well.

Pros:

  • Best picture of 2014

  • Excellent black levels and bright whites

  • Very thin

  • Accurate color

  • Weighs only 30 pounds

  • OLED TV

  • Cursor remote

Cons:

  • Pricey

  • The video processing is lacking

  • Color accuracy could be better

  • Curved screen

The bottom line is this TV is one of the best available. Its picture quality surpasses all plasma TVs, and it is likely to sport the best picture, compared to even the newest TVs. Though the screen is curved, many people can look past it when considering the sheer picture quality.

The Sony XBR-X900B: A Review

The Sony XBR-X900B is Sony’s newest 4K TV that offers up multiple speakers and two remotes. The TV itself offers the best 4K picture of 2014 to date. It offers good competition to the most recent plasma TVs released. However, the TV is expensive, and not everyone will want to pay over $3,000 for a television set. It has a unique design and is packed full of features, as a $3,000 TV should be.

The TV itself has a thick bezel and a wedge shape. This is not the first TV of 2014 to offer this odd shape for a TV set. The bezel is thin at the top, but gets thicker to accommodate the front-facing speakers. For a TV, the speakers are huge and very prominent, something not everyone will appreciate. The TV is also very large, requiring an equally large stand. The regular remote is flimsy and looks cheap compared to the TV. It offers no backlighting or special features. The secondary remote has a touchpad, which makes navigating the Smart TV menus easier.

Pros:

  • Great picture quality

  • Excellent sound

  • Offers the most 4K content

  • Camera

  • The thin bezel makes the TV look all-screen

Cons:

  • The speakers are not pretty

  • Expensive compared to most models

  • 3D image is not the greatest

Overall, this TV is a good purchase if you have the money to splurge. However, it’s almost better to wait to see what the holiday season brings, as far as TVs go. The sound and picture quality combined do make this TV stand out above the rest of the 4K lineup.

Vizio’s Newest Lineup: The M2i-B Series

Vizio is a leader of low-priced TVs and electronics, such as remote controls. The company was lesser known, but recently they have made a name for themselves in the LED/LCD TV market. The Vizio M2i-B series is the newly redesigned M-series for 2014. The TV picture quality is one of the best available for a lower-cost TV. It also offers a menagerie of features that allow it to compete with more expensive TV models.

The TV looks very similar to the 2013 model, but offers an even thinner bezel. The open base stand looks nice, but is not black, which could affect its sales. The remote is still the same, too. It is an okay remote, but it offers no backlighting, and the key arrangement could be better. If you flip it over, you can use a full QWERTY keyboard. The menu system is redesigned on this TV, and it’s better than before.

Pros:

  • Local dimming

  • Deep black levels

  • Good bright-room performance

  • Keyboard on remote

  • Control of Netflix and YouTube with a cell phone

  • Smart TV with good interface

  • 4 HDMI inputs

Cons:

  • Subpar sound quality

  • Picture is the same as a lower-priced series

  • Remote could be better

  • No phone app

The bottom line is this is a great TV and a good overall value. However, it does not offer much more than the new E series; therefore, it is not as good of a value compared to the cheaper series. Overall, it does outperform the E series, but only slightly. For the price point, it is a worthwhile purchase.

Introducing the Sharp LE650

The LE650 is an updated version of 2013’s LE640, and it even has the same TV remote control. Sharp changed the design of the TV drastically to allow for a slimmer bezel. This forced the speakers to be moved to face the rear. Overall, the TV looks good, and it offers a good picture and value for the features. It features Sharp’s Smart TV suite, which is easy to navigate and has a decent amount of apps. The TV is an entry-level model, but it does offer a decent set of features and settings.

The TV comes with a thin, black bezel. Its stand is also black, but it sits far down on it and appears to be squatting over it. The remote is the same as the 2012 model, with a few hot button additions. You can now access a few apps from the remote, using the programmable hot buttons. However, the remote still looks and feels the same as before. The remote does function well, but it is larger than most that come with newer model TVs.

Pros:

  • Better picture quality than comparable models

  • Good black levels

  • Accurate color

  • Good bright-room picture

  • Smart TV

  • Multiple picture settings

Cons:

  • Poor sound quality

  • Pricey

Bottom line, this TV is a good overall value compared to other similar devices. Its sound quality is subpar, but Sharp sacrificed it when they redesigned the bezel. In addition, they fixed the color uniformity issues that the previous model had. The TV might just be a basic model that lacks features such as 3D, but that does not make it less of a TV.

The PNF8500: Samsung’s Best Performing TV

The Samsung PNF8500 is one of the last plasma TVs that the company produced, and it is the best-performing TV that it made. The TV was very pricey when it first debuted, but now the price has dropped due to Samsung phasing out the plasma type of TV. The TV’s design is impressive, and even more stunning are the new remote controls that Samsung developed. It is the redesigned version of the previous remotes D8000 and E8000.

The Titan Black stand is thin and extends both in front and behind the TV. It complements the TV, but it wall mounts, too. The base spans the width of the TV, which means a larger entertainment stand is needed. The TV is stable on the base, though. The new remote is small and silver with a touchpad taking up most of its length. The touchpad works excellently, and the few buttons available are spot on.

Pros:

  • Excellent picture quality

  • Good bright room image

  • Deep black levels

  • Accurate colors

  • Touch-pad remote

  • Smart TV platform

  • Four 3D glasses

  • Motion and voice command

  • Best plasma TV available

  • Built in camera

Cons:

  • Very expensive

  • No direct commands on remote

  • Consumes a lot of power

Bottom line, consumers who can afford a top of the line TV would appreciate the PNF8500. It offers the best lineup of features that are available for a Samsung TV. The Smart TV lineup is especially good, as well. The only annoying feature of the TV is the start screen, which pops up every time the TV is started.

The Vizio E-Series Revisited: The 2014 B Lineup

If you remember the Vizio E-Series, it was one of the best budget HDTVs for the money, aside from its horrendous TV remote control. In 2014, Vizio released a new version of this TV, dubbed the E0i-B Series. Just like the previous version of this TV, it offers almost unbeatable picture quality at a budget price. The new series offers even better performance, and a wider range of sizes, from 39 inches to 60 inches.

If you look at the overall design of the TV, it looks and feels just like the previous model from 2013. Reviewers called the look generic, and they perceived the stand as flimsy. The TV remote control has the same poor design as before, but they switched the dedicated keys some, including Amazon Instant, Netflix, and M-Go, while leaving out others. One thing that Vizio added a big update to was the menu, which flows better and is similar to their higher-end M series.

Pros:

  • Local dimming

  • Excellent picture quality

  • Budget price

  • Good bright room performance

  • Excellent Smart TV content

  • Wide range of sizes

  • Great content selection in Smart TV

  • Excellent color management system

Cons:

  • Poor sound quality

  • Color accuracy could be better

  • Poorly designed remote

  • Lackluster exterior and stand

  • No 3D

  • Lack of screen mirroring

Compared to many other HDTVs that cost less than $1,000, this TV is an excellent value. It offers a lot of the features that TVs twice its price cannot beat. The updates to the features make the E0i-B Series a welcome upgrade, compared to other TVs, and compared to the previous E-Series.

The Panasonic AS530 Series: A Good Mid-Range Model

The Panasonic AS530 offers some competition among the mid-range LCD HDTV manufacturers. The sleek HDTV and its trusty wand TV remote offer a wide range of features not normally seen in larger TV models retailing at under $1,000. Panasonic took great care making this TV functional and extremely pleasing to the eye.

The AS530 comes with a razor-thin bezel with a shiny black finish and a skeletal pedestal stand. It comes with many of the expected features, but fails to include 3D. However, this new development tends to be the current trend, with many TV manufacturers phasing out 3D technology in 2014 and 2015. The remote control is a long black wand that offers many buttons. Luckily, the buttons all have a convenient placement, and it even contains a shortcut for Netflix. It also features a Swipe and Share ability, but you need an app for that.

Pros:

  • Excellent pricing

  • Attractive design

  • Great off-angle viewing and screen uniformity

  • Colors saturated well

  • Decent remote

  • Smart TV

  • Built-in Wi-Fi

Cons:

  • Colors are slightly off

  • Smart TV system is hard to navigate

  • No 3D

  • No gaming mode

  • Only 2 HDMI ports

  • Lackluster sound

  • No Spotify app

For under $1,000, this TV is well worth the purchase if you are not a heavy gamer. Gamers and 3D fans should be aware that this TV is not friendly to either. It does not offer 3D technology, and it lacks a gaming setting. Also, fewer inputs means that you are limited in the amount of peripherals you plug into it.

What Is 4K Technology?

With so many TVs on the market today, it is hard to determine which one is right for you. Do you need the smaller TV with the affordable price? Or do you need the one with the amazing TV remote to make your life easier? What about high definition? And what about 4K technology? The best thing you can do is learn about different TVs and their technology. Then, you can make an informed decision about which one is right for you.

4K technology is being talked about everywhere -- but what is it? Understanding 4K technology when it comes to your next TV can help you determine if this is the technology you need. 4K is a term used to reference ultra-high definition televisions. These TVs have about four times the detail of a full HD television. In simpler terms, 4K televisions have absolutely amazing picture quality.

With 4K technology, you can expect the picture to be almost like looking at a photograph. The detail is immaculate, the picture is smooth, and the texture of the images is amazing. Basically, the images you see will be almost as beautiful as in real life. With a 4K TV, you can also sit closer to the screen and not worry about seeing the pixels -- the technology really is that good.

4K TVs started out to be very expensive, but prices have come down since their release. You can get a decent 4K TV today for less than a grand. Just take your time, shop around, and choose the one that fits your needs and budget. If you ever need to replace your 4K TV's remote, contact us at Replacement Remotes.

Panasonic's Life+ Screen Lineup

To compete with the fast-paced HDTV industry, Panasonic created the Life+ Screen line of TVs, which boast impressive features and the ability to use them without the TV remote. The TV comes in 50 to 85-inch screens, catering to those with deeper pockets and a wish for a large television. The screen is backlit LED with a 4K display. The 4K resolution is said to look as good, if not better, than the resolution on the well-known retired plasma TVs.

Included with the Life+ Screen TVs is a remote control that has a built-in microphone for the voice recognition service. It is small, and looks similar to a cell phone, and it has a few radio buttons for different available services. In addition, the TV uses facial recognition. With this service, it can keep profiles for each TV user.

Pros:

  • Easy to use interface and ability to search for content across all apps

  • Profiles for each user

  • Uses the cloud to save apps and information

  • Shares content

  • Good color saturation and image quality

  • Budget price for the features

  • 120 Hz and 4K resolution

  • Swipe and share content

  • Many apps

Cons:

  • Too few HDMI ports

  • TV is clunky

  • No gaming mode

  • Bad sound quality

The bottom line is that this is a great budget 4K HDTV. It is not made for gaming, or anyone who plans to use the apps heavily. The Smart TV features work as well as any other TV; however, the price point puts this way below the competition. Therefore, expect some less-advanced features.

Contact Replacement Remotes for more information on the new 4K TVS and their remotes.

Stream TV's Ultra-D

Imagine having a 3D television that does not need 3D glasses to display the image on it. Stream has done just that with a filter that fits over an HDTV. In the future, they plan to create a TV set that does just this, without the filter. Using the TV remote control, you could flip through cable channels and see everything in 3D.

As it stands, in the fall of 2014, the Ultra-D TVs are still just a prototype. However, Stream is working with TCL, BOE, Huawei, Toshiba, and Hisense to produce these TVs for the end of 2014 and Q1 of 2015. Each TV produced will have 4K resolution with 8 million pixels when viewing 2D content. Unfortunately, most streaming services do not offer 4K services yet, but Netflix is supposed to roll their service out in Q4 of 2014.

The 3D technology included within the new TVs will not require glasses. The 3D technology works more like a hologram than the current 3D technology. The new screens deflect the light from individual pixels, projecting them one meter in front of the screen. This makes it appear as if the image has real depth. This 3D technology looks more real and loses the cumbersome glasses.

Soon, another service available from Stream will be the seeQube box. It decodes streaming services, giving the ability to watch compressed 4K TV streams. It does this with the help of a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor and an Adreno 330 GPU. With these specifications, it can stream 4K over the same bandwidth as regular HD streaming. In addition, Stream expects to adapt the technology for new tablet and phone screens for 3D service.

Amazon Fire TV

Recently, Amazon made waves when they introduced their Fire TV streaming device to compete with Roku and Apple TV. Its box is similar in size to the Roku box and Apple TV, and it has a similar TV remote control. Its remote is simple to use, as is the interface, which makes this device highly competitive.

With the Amazon Fire TV, you have the ability to use streaming services from most apps other than Amazon Prime. However, Amazon services are preferred, and some major apps are missing from the service, such as Spotify and HBO Go. The app lineup for the Fire TV is impressive, but compared to other streaming devices, it does not offer as much.

Pros:

  • Kid-friendly platform

  • Simple setup

  • Easy to use remote

  • Large amount of playable games

  • Small profile box

  • Very accurate voice search

Cons:

  • Expensive price tag

  • Have to purchase a separate game controller

  • Voice search limited to Amazon services

  • Requires a Prime subscription

  • Power adapter takes up a lot of space

Overall, if you have an Amazon Prime account, having the Amazon TV is worth it, especially if you play a lot of games. With the Amazon TV, you can access many games from Amazon Prime, including Minecraft and The Walking Dead. However, if you are just a casual streaming TV user, it would be a better choice to purchase a less expensive streaming TV device. Even with it, you can still access streaming from Amazon Prime Instant.

The Roku TV

Both Hisense and TCL collaborated with Roku to create a TV with all of the Roku services built in and a simplified TV remote. The two new lines of HDTVs range in size from 32-inch to 55-inch models. The TCL models are available for purchase, while the new Hisense models will debut in September 2014. These new televisions offer the same entertainment available to the Roku box, but without the box.

The Roku TV offers more than 1,500 possible channels that give you the ability to watch movies and shows. You also have access to many different apps, such as Vevo, HBO Go, and Pandora. The largest models also offer excellent specifications, which mean your HD shows will look hi-def. The search function works very well, allowing you to search across all the apps and channels. The remote control that comes with the Roku TV is simple, with few radio buttons. However, you can also control it with a tablet or smartphone.

Pros:

  • Access to 1,500 channels

  • Access to all of your favorite TV and movie apps

  • Stream content from your smart phone

  • 1080p resolution from 40-inch and up models

  • 120 Hz refresh rate

  • Wireless and 3 HDMI inputs

  • Surprisingly low cost for the 55-inch model

Cons:

  • The picture quality was so-so, rating 6/10 from CNET

  • No local dimming

The bottom line is that if you prefer to have your streaming services integrated into your TV, going with the Roku TV is a great option. However, if you prefer picture quality to the apps available, buying a Roku TV might not be the best option.

The Vizio E241I-B1 -- The Ideal Choice for a Child

If you have children, then you may find yourself growing weary of sharing your primary TV. Adults don't really want to watch children's shows all of the time, which could lead to the need for a small, child's TV and TV remote. When your child has his/her own TV, you are free to watch whatever you want without causing any temper tantrums. The Vizio E241I-B1 is a great choice for a child's room. Let's look at some of its features.

This TV has a slim profile, which means it will fit nicely in your child's room, even if it is on the small side. The slim style helps the TV to stay out of the way and blend with the rest of the décor, rather than sticking out like a sore thumb. It also features LED edge-lighting, which means that picture has better contrast. It has an HDMI and a USB port.

The best feature of this quality TV is the fact that it is a SmartTV. Your child can enjoy streaming from all of the major providers, such as Netflix. The Vizio E241I-B1 can even be used as a backup computer monitor in a pinch. You can buy the Vizio E241I-B1 for less than $200 -- a small price to pay to regain control of your remote again!

Contact us at Replacement Remotes when you purchase your Vizio TV, and we can provide you with a backup remote for those "just in case" situations -- just in case your child accidentally breaks it.

The Coby TFDVD1595 -- The Ideal Kitchen TV

When you are in the kitchen, especially for hours at a time, it can be nice to reach for the remote control and watch a little TV as you cook. Kitchen televisions are quite popular today. Choosing the right TV for your kitchen is as easy as doing a bit of research. Here, we will take a look at one of the better choices for a kitchen TV.

The Coby TFDVD1595 is available for less than $200. It features a 15.6 inch screen, which means you shouldn't have any trouble viewing it, even from a distance. It also has a compact design to make it easy to set up on a counter or a small table. It also features a built-in DVD player, perfect for a fun, family night of watching a favorite movie while snacking on something yummy. It also has different input options to allow you to listen to CDs or even plug in a USB adapter.

While the picture is not exactly phenomenal, it is more than acceptable. In fact, for this size and price, the picture is quite pleasant. This TV does not feature battery power, so you will have to make sure it is close to an outlet, which could limit your choices when it comes to placement. Other than that, as long as you don't expect 4K quality from this little guy, you should be more than satisfied with the Coby TFDVD1595 as your new kitchen TV.

Contact us today at Replacement Remotes if you ever need to replace your kitchen TV remote.

Understanding Smart TV Technology

When you are in the market for a new TV, your only requirement may simply be that it has a good TV remote control. That’s a normal request from the average person. However, today's TVs have a lot more to offer than just a great remote. There are different technologies being introduced every day -- and one of those technologies is the Smart TV.

So, what is a Smart TV? In simple terms, it is a TV that can connect to the internet. Now, a Smart TV is not the kind of television that requires an HDMI cable to connect it to your laptop. A Smart TV has its own way of connecting to the internet. Some of these televisions have built-in WIFI functionality. Others require that you connect your TV directly to your router through an Ethernet port.

Once connected to the internet, you will find a wide range of options available. You can surf the web, check Facebook, watch some YouTube clips, and much more. Different manufacturers offer different features for their Smart TVs, and some are better than others. One thing that you are sure to find is the ability to stream videos, such as those offered by Netflix and other video-on-demand services.

Smart TV prices range from low to high. If internet access or streaming movies is important to you, then you may want to find a Smart TV to fit your needs -- and if its great remote ever fails, Replacement Remotes is here to help.

The LG 84LM960V -- Massive TV and Price Tag to Match!

The LG 84LM960V is not your average TV with an average TV remote. This mammoth television is just that -- mammoth! This is an 84-inch TV with an asking price of more than $35,000! This is not for the average television owner. No, the LG 84LM960V is a TV that is designed for large spaces and large wallets. However, this massive and expensive television truly delivers, when it comes to quality viewing.

This is a full HD 3D television. The picture quality is like nothing you have ever seen. It comes equipped with two remote controls, and it has standard features that you will find on smaller versions. These features include integrated Smart TV capabilities, as well as networking. The LG 84LM960V has 3 USB ports and 4 HDMI ports, giving users plenty of port options. The color of the picture is rich and full -- you won't notice any deterioration of the picture, even when you get extra close. The images displayed are smooth, with deep blacks and vibrant colors.

The drawbacks to this TV are, of course, the price -- not just anyone can afford to buy this TV, and the codecs required for it have yet to be standard practice. It also has a video gaming lag that can truly affect the quality of your game playing -- so, this is not a good choice for anyone serious about gaming.

The LG 84LM960V is an amazing, breathtaking TV with a heartbreaking price. However, you are sure to find smaller models -- from LG and other manufacturers -- that can provide you with the same quality in a more affordable price range. Whether this is the TV for you or not, for all of your remote needs, contact us here at Replacement Remotes.

The Samsung UE65HU8500 -- High Quality for a High Price -- But Worth Every Penny

If you are in the market for a larger TV – and, by large, we're talking at least 60-inches -- then the Samsung UE65HU8500 just may be the TV of your dreams! Samsung has always delivered quality televisions and remotes, and the Samsung UE65HU8500 is no exception. It stands out from the rest of the larger model TVs in many ways.

The first thing you will notice about this 4K television is its unique screen -- it's curved, rather than flat! Not only does this add to the visual beauty of the image displayed on the screen, it adds to the aesthetic appeal of the TV's design. The Samsung UE65HU8500 also has a great selection of ports that are fully capable of handling UHD video codecs.

The UHD resolution creates a gorgeous picture that is sure to pop with details and colors. The Samsung UE65HU8500 is also a Smart TV, and Samsung has made some definite improvements in their Smart TV capabilities. This TV also features faster processing, which makes a world of difference as you navigate your way around its menus and hubs. The audio quality is impressive, with full, rich sounds that will give you a true theater experience.

There are a few flaws with the Samsung UE65HU8500, including that beautiful curved screen. While it adds to your viewing pleasure and the visual appeal, it also allows for more reflections, which can detract from your experience. The viewing angle for such a curved TV is limited, possibly more than you are used to with other flat-screen TVs. With a price tag of around $7,000, this is not a cheap TV -- it is an investment. Think wisely before you drop your cash, to ensure that this TV fits your needs and your budget.

As always, if you ever need a new Samsung remote, contact us here at Replacement Remotes.

The Samsung UNF5000 -- Small TV that Delivers

Buying a new TV isn't always about the biggest screens and the fanciest remote controls. Sometimes, bigger isn't always better -- especially if you have limited space in your home. Even if you have plenty of space, you may just want a smaller TV because your needs are minimal. The Samsung UNF5000 LED LCD may just be the television you've been looking for.

The Samsung UNF5000 is a 40-inch TV, so it's not the smallest on the market, but it's certainly not the largest. However, its modest size does not hold it back from delivering quality features. The picture on the Samsung UNF5000 is quite lovely. It's not likely to win any technology awards, but if all you need is a crisp, clear picture with good colors and deep blacks, then Samsung has it covered.

The slim design is another good feature, because it means your TV won't have trouble fitting into its designated space and the surrounding design. The audio is quite sufficient for this size television. The biggest drawback for this TV is the lack of input ports -- it only has to HDMI ports. However, with a price tag of only $530, you may be willing to overlook the lack of ports in favor of good quality at a great price.

If you want a smaller TV that gives you everything you need for simply watching your favorite shows, then consider the Samsung UNF5000. If you ever need a new remote for your smart investment, just contact us at Replacement Remotes, and we will set you up with a quality replacement!

The Samsung F8500 -- Get the Best Plasma while You Can

If you are in the market for a new TV, this may be the perfect time to grab yourself a plasma. Yes, plasma technology is on the way out, but there are still great plasmas and remotes ready to be bought. Manufacturers will offer support for the televisions, and with prices on the downswing, now could be the time to invest. The Samsung F8500 series is one of the best plasmas on the market right now, for several good reasons.

The Samsung F8500 series does, of course, feature that beautiful plasma technology. It has a large 51-inch screen for your viewing pleasure. It also has various Smart TV features that make its operation much easier. The voice recognition technology lets you literally ask your TV for program recommendations -- this means if you want to watch sports, just ask, and your TV will deliver! The contrast panel uses the best technology to create the perfect balance of lights and darks, which ensures a magnificent picture that's rich in color and detail.

The quad core processor means this TV is not going to lag behind. Whether you are on the web, or zipping through different content menus, the Samsung F8500 is going to easily keep up with your choices. While it may seem a bit pricey at $1800, consider this TV an investment. As long as Samsung continues to offer support, there is no reason why you shouldn't buy one of these great TVs.

Contact us at Replacement Remotes if your Samsung remote ever fails or breaks -- we will set you up with a replacement to ensure that you never miss a moment on your beautiful plasma TV!

The Seiki 55" SE55UY04 -- 4K Quality at Shockingly Low Price

When you are shopping for a new TV, one of the most important factors is probably your budget. Sure, you would love to have the TV of your dreams, but without unlimited money, you have to stick with what you can afford. Comparing different TVs and remote controls to find the best quality for the most affordable price is the best way to make an informed and budget-conscious decision. The Seiki 55" SE55UY04 is one of the best values on the market right now.

The Seiki 55" SE55UY04 is a 4K, 55-inch television that includes lots of features for an astonishing price -- currently $600 at Wal-Mart. You can also find comparable prices at other retail sources. Some of the features include:

  • LED backlighting

  • Ultra HD resolution

  • True widescreen ratio for viewing movies just like you would in the theater

  • 3 HDMI ports

  • Built-in digital tuner

  • Parental control features

  • Easy-to-use remote control

The Seiki 55" SE55UY04 truly delivers a beautiful picture for an affordable price. However, this TV has one big flaw that could stop you from investing -- it does not have streaming capabilities. If you want a TV that can stream on its own, you need to look elsewhere. Of course, with the HDMI ports, you can always hook up your laptop or PC to the TV, but it's just not quite the same experience.

If you are not concerned about streaming and only want a good TV at a great price, the Seiki should definitely be on your list of possibilities.

Contact us today at Replacement Remotes if you ever need to replace your Seiki remote or any of your other device remotes.

The Sony KDL-40W605B -- Fantastic Picture and Options

So many TVs and so many remotes -- is it even possible to find just one television that meets all of your needs and falls within your budget? It seems as if manufacturers are churning out new models every day -- and they are! All of the choices make it even harder for you to choose only one television. If your budget isn't too modest -- say, within the $900 range -- then, the Sony KDL-40W605B may just be the TV you need.

The Sony KDL-40W605B is just over $900, making it a bit on the high side as far as price. However, the price is still affordable for anyone ready to make a serious investment in a television. One of the best benefits of this Sony TV is the picture quality -- you will be hard-pressed to find a better, more vibrant picture for this amount of money. For a 40-inch LCD TV that features direct LED lighting, you truly cannot beat the stunning picture results.

The Sony KDL-40W605B also features several modes of multimedia playback, including USB and Wi-Fi. It has 4 HDMI ports, and its sleek design and surprisingly lightweight construction make it ideal for any room in your home. This is a Smart TV, and the features are pretty decent for the price. The remote also provides direct access to some of your favorite options, such as Netflix.

The biggest drawback for the Sony KDL-40W605B is the audio. While the sound quality isn't horrible, it isn't as good as it could be. Of course, you can always hook up a surround-sound system and have the perfect TV. But for over $900, you would expect better sound quality, and Sony just didn't meet expectations this time around. Overall, the Sony KDL-40W605B is a great TV for a somewhat higher price. What it lacks in audio, it more than makes up for in options and picture quality.

The Panasonic TX-L32E6 -- Ideal for TV Lovers on a Budget

Choosing the best TV to fit your budget can be tough, especially when it seems like the prices of televisions just keep getting higher. You want a TV that meets your viewing needs. You want one that comes with a TV remote that is easy to use and gives you access to the different menus and features. Finally, you want a TV and remote that you can afford without having to take out a small loan. The Panasonic TX-L32E6 is a great television that will give you plenty of bang for your buck.

The Panasonic TX-L32E6 is available for around $650, which is more budget-friendly than many TVs on the market. This particular television has various features, including:

  • Very slim bezel and sleek design

  • USB and DLNA multimedia playback options

  • Calibration tools for adjusting the perfect picture

  • Easy to use Smart TV interface

  • Great picture for a low price

There are a few things that keep the Panasonic TX-L32E6 from being the best TV on the market, including:

  • Remote is lackluster

  • Loss of resolution through motion (but not so much that the picture suffers terribly)

  • Lack of choice when it comes to online streaming options

Overall, the Panasonic TX-L32E6 is a budget TV that will give you great viewing pleasure without sending you to the poorhouse. As long as your online streaming needs aren't too significant, this television should easily meet your basic viewing needs.

  • Fabulous picture with deep blacks

  • Performs well in bright rooms

  • 120Hz processing

  • Lots of Smart TV content

  • Remote features logical layout and clearly defined buttons

The Cons:

The quality of the picture, along with the price, make it an ideal choice for the midrange budget. If you have basic TV needs, this may be the right television for you. If you prefer something beyond the basic, you may need to keep shopping. But the Panasonic TC-LE60 should definitely be in the running.

The Sharp LC-UQ17U Promises Too Much and Fails to Deliver

With the wide assortment of TVs and remotes on the market, finding one that fits your budget and your lifestyle is not easy. Doing ample research before investing in a TV can help ensure that you don't find yourself stuck with a lemon. For instance: buying a TV with a remote that is so complicated, you need a universal with remote control codes just to operate your new TV! Replacement Remotes is here to help you sort through the madness and find the right TV to meet your needs.

A closer look at the Sharp LC-UQ17U reveals that this LED-backlit LCD TV is not all that it's cracked up to be. Since 4K technology seems to be the latest rage, but not everyone can afford a 4K TV, Sharp decided to create a television that acts like a 4K TV -- and it falls within the $1600 to $2500 price range.

The Sharp LC-UQ17U is a 1080p TV that features deep blacks and shadow detail, giving it a nice quality display -- but that's about as far as it goes. This TV tries to give you 4K technology, but fails. The Revelation engine, which is supposed to give the display the 4K boost, actually hinders the picture quality at times. It can smudge the finer details and add artifacts during the darker-colored scenes. The pixilation of this TV is often noticeable, which means that you cannot sit too close to the screen -- another 4K feature that Sharp fails to deliver.

Finally, the price is just too much for a fake 4K television -- if you want true 4K technology, you can probably find it for a comparable price. The Sharp LC-UQ17U is fine, if you don't mind spending the extra money for 4K technology that isn't really 4K technology, but if all you want is a decent picture, you can surely find that in a more affordable model.

Be sure to contact us at Replacement Remotes for all your remote control needs, whether it's for a Sharp TV or another model.

The Samsung PNF8500 Series Delivers an Amazing Picture

Finding an awesome TV and a matching TV remote control may seem like an impossible challenge, especially with so many available models on the market. However, the Samsung PNF8500 series takes the guesswork out of the process. This television series delivers exactly what you would expect in the $2400 to $3100 price range.

This is an active 3-D, plasma television that offers a superb picture with a wonderful bright-room image. The details are in the shadows -- literally! This TV series offers deep blacks and shadow detail that help create a beautiful image. The colors are accurate and uniform, giving you a smooth, crisp image that pops with details.

This TV series has an amazing remote that is packed with tons of features. It also comes equipped with 4 pairs of 3-D glasses. You can even operate this TV series by motion and voice commands! Samsung didn't hold anything back when creating this series, as it offers the latest in Smart TV technology. Finally, the design is slim and sleek, making it a perfect fit for any interior design.

The biggest flaws with this TV series are the price and the power consumption. If you like living "green," you may want to steer clear of this TV series -- it consumes a lot more power than comparable LCD TVs. The price is also on the steep side, which means it is not a good fit for every budget.

Overall, this plasma TV series delivers more than what you might expect in terms of picture quality and features -- but you can also expect to pay for these features and quality.

All About the Vizio M2i-B TV Series

When choosing between TVs, the remote controls are an important part of the choice. You want one that gives you access to the functions you need without being too complicated or ugly. The Vizio M2i-B series of TVs has a great remote that features a QWERTY keyboard, and it is also in a sleek, silver color. There are other good features of this TV series.

For the price of about $1500, you get a TV that offers a great picture. It has a local dimming LED backlight that allows it to offer deep blacks and little blooming. There are plenty of picture adjustments available, too, which ensure that you are able to create the ideal picture. As a Smart TV, it has lots of available content and a user-friendly design. As mentioned, the remote is also quite stylish and handy, offering you plenty of feature-access, as well as a QWERTY keyboard.

Unfortunately, the sound quality of this TV series is not what you might expect from a $1500 television. The high price means a great picture -- but the quality is really not that much better than what you will find in a cheaper model. The color is accurate, but not as accurate as it could be, and that goes for the video processing, too.

All in all, this is a sound TV series that delivers a great picture for a somewhat affordable price. The features make it seem like an even more expensive TV. Use your common sense when making the choice to buy this TV -- it may be better to shop around for something comparable that delivers even more features.

Contact us today at Replacement Remotes if you need a quality Vizio remote control replacement.

The Vizio E0i-B TV Series -- The Good and the Bad

From the TV remote to the actual television, finding the one that is the perfect fit for your home is hard. There are just so many TVs out there, and it is easy to get an information-overload while doing your research. Replacement Remotes is here to help make things a little easier by taking a closer look at the Vizio E0i-B series of TVs.

If you are looking for a TV that fits well within just about any budget, this series might be right for you. Prices ranges from $700 to $730, which is a very affordable price for a TV that delivers -- and this series does deliver. While you cannot expect the same picture quality of a plasma TV, this LCD series holds its own against the competitors.

One of the best things about this series of TVs is its picture quality. The local dimming features allows the TV to provide you with deep blacks with little blooming. It also works great in a brightly-lit room, which is important if you enjoy staying out of the dark while enjoying your favorite shows. There are also lots of ways you can adjust the picture to perfection.

There is, of course, a downside. The TV remote for this series is not exactly brilliant, but it is sufficient. The sound quality for this series also leaves much to be desired, but if you hook it up to a surround sound system, you may not even notice. The video processing is not up to par with other TVs, but for the price, you really can't beat it.

Is the Samsung UNF8000 the Right TV for You?

With so many TVs and their corresponding remotes on the market, it can be tough to choose the best one. The last thing you want to do is make a hasty decision. Knowing the ins and outs of each TV will help you make the right choice.

The Samsung UNF8000 is an LED LCD TV that has its good and bad points. First, let's talk about the good stuff. The UNF8000 has superior picture quality. Some of the benefits of its picture quality include:

  • Deep blacks and accurate colors

  • Smooth video processing

  • A uniform screen

Each of these factors creates an absolutely brilliant picture. It also features a streamlined design with a tiny bezel and unobtrusive stand. The touchpad remote has a vast array of buttons and features, providing you access to all of the goodies within this TVs capabilities. It also comes equipped with 4 pairs of 3-D glasses.

Now, on to the not-so-good stuff. The price for the UNF8000 is steep, ranging from $1400 to $2300 dollars. The stand is low-profile, but it is wide, so you will need a larger surface to hold the TV. The cable box control features are still less than adequate, especially if you are primarily a DVR kind of person.

Overall, this is a great TV with lots of features to give you an awesome viewing experience -- if you are prepared to shell out a large amount of money. Before you dive into purchasing this TV, weigh your options carefully and make sure your budget can afford the hit.

The Curious Curved TV: Sony KDL-S990A

This LED-based LCD HDTV is one of the first HDTVs with a curved screen. Its release price was $4,000, which is a lot to pay for a TV. Its TV remote control is very long, with few buttons. The curve of the TV is very slight, but Sony states it is noticeable for the viewers near the center of the viewing angle. Due to this gentle, subtle curve, the HDTV must be placed on a wide stand. In addition, the TV itself is quite wide.

Instead of using OLED technology, Sony uses what it knows: LED technology. The resolution is 1080p, not 4K like other curved TVs. For such an HDTV, it offers a unique sound system, with eight speakers facing multiple directions. The surround sound is impressive, compared to many flat panel devices. The remote itself is nothing special. It offers the usual numbered buttons and a central directional pad with buttons above you can program.

Pros:

  • Great sound system

  • Powerful video processing

  • Whole suite of Smart TV apps

  • Built in Wi-Fi

  • Great picture and color

  • Energy Star certified

  • Active 3D technology

Cons:

  • Expensive

  • Very large footprint

  • Very heavy at over 100 lbs.

Bottom Line:

This is a great curved HDTV, but very expensive. Within a year, curved HDTVs might drop in price and offer better or different options. If you can afford the TV and must have this technology now, go for it. Just expect better technology to follow. In the meantime, you will have a great functioning HDTV. If you do order this TV and ever need a replacement remote, contact us for quick delivery.

A Step Up from the 8000 Series: Samsung UNF9000 Series

The Samsung UNF9000 is a 4K TV at a smaller price than their UNS series. Its TV remote is one of the touch-pad clicker models distributed with the Samsung high-end TVs. The TV itself is nice looking, but it does have some drawbacks. The curved base must be situated on a table or stand as wide as it is, or else the TV risks collapse. The thin bezel is silver and very minimalistic, matching the base.

These 4K TVs are future-proof. This means that it can be upgraded, normally for a small price. The One Connect upgrade box attaches to the back of the TV, and a new one could be added in the future, adding more features to the TV. The remote is small, and it features a touch pad. It fits well in the hand, and the Bluetooth technology works wonders. It's incredibly accurate and nimble, allowing easy navigation of the menus.

Pros:

  • Excellent picture quality and great black levels

  • Accurate color

  • Great video processing

  • Upgradable One Connect box

  • Active 3D technology and four 3D glasses

  • Excellent remote

  • Smart TV, voice and gesture control

Cons:

  • Expensive at $4,000

  • Does not have better features or picture than a high-end LCD/LED HDTV

  • Wide stand

  • Far too little 4K content

Bottom Line:

If you must have a 4K HDTV, this one costs far less than others do. However, it is still expensive compared to LED/LCD models. It does offer a great set of features, but very similar ones to the 8000 series.

For more information on TVs and their great remotes, contact us at Replacement Remotes.
